Do you have any examples of your photography, this may help the knowledge ones, when advising! Good luck either way, and don't forget to consider Nikon, like the Nikon D800!

I would recommend starting here: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1247542 A lot of time and effort went into this.

Don't!

Be a guest - as you should be considering the relationship - and enjoy the wedding instead of "working".

If you and your step daughter have any kind of relationship at all why not relax and enjoy the day with her and other family members. Love the bird pics though!

Slip some money to a pretty good second, then relax a little more and enjoy yourself!

But other than that the sticky is a nice place to start. As far as gear is concerned, I'd push for something that's familiar and comfortable rather than just grabbing the most whiz-bang thing for weddings. I think other recommendations will vary with your style and experience.

Is the wedding inside or out doors. Smaller church or large room. Will the people in charge of the place allow you to be within 20 feet of the couple or force you to stay outside the door. Ministers and church have very different rules to follow.

A lot of my shoots have using a Canon 5DII have the 24-70/f2.8 on it 90% of the time. All depends on the room, rules and overall conditions.
