Hello All-

First post here. Graphic artist looking for some feedback and advice. I'm a self employed creative type looking to take upgrade my camera gear. Currently shooting a 50D and 24-70 II for the most part. Mainly focusing on some crossfit workout at the gym I coach at. Not a ton of light for evening workouts and events. Keep going back and forth on 6D or 5Diii. I've rented both with mixed results. The 5Diii gave me some amazing shots but I think I missed a lot simply fooling around with the AF system. The 6D was much like my 50D but not quite as happy with results. Please tear these apart and let me know what route you'd suggest.

Thanks in advance - Stretch

Here's some 5Diii shots:

Here's some 6D shots:

And I should note. I know that I could stop action with a flash but I simply don't feel comfortable with a flash as these athletes throw heavy weights around. I know I can bounce but still worry about the distraction.

First, welcome to FM. Please know that you will get more responses by imbedding your images in the post with EXIF data intact. People are reluctant to click on links or have to copy and paste into a browser. When looking at these links, all of the 6D shots look like focus was missed. Think about your backgrounds as you compose your shots and the story you are trying to tell.

OK, trying this again. The area I shoot is usually dark and the background is pretty busy but I'll work on finding a better angle when I can. I'm shooting wide open on my 24-70 2.8. The 50 1.4 is great but feel I need a little wider for the area.

One other issue. Didn't realize I had the High Iso NR turned on when I rented the 5diii but when I rented the 6d it was turned off. Regardless, when doing processing in Lightroom I couldn't get the 6d images to be as sharp as the 5diii.

Wallet says get a 6D and wide fast lens. Heart and photos say 5diii.

50D just struggles iso wise when it's dark. 5Diii shines. 6D, feels like I can get the shot but it's going to take more work.
