Any reason why no one mentions about ZA 24/2.0?

It is an excellent close up lens, while being pretty wide....

Hi,
Well, I hadn't really looked at that. I guess this is a Sony A mount lens? I haven't really thought about that. How do those compare to the "regular" Zeiss lenses?

AhamB, I am not really looking for true macro but more close up photography. I think 1:2 at 50mm is fine for what I am wanting to do.

I know, but I'm also talking about regular close-ups. I have hardly done any real macro shooting with my MP 100/2.8. I just find that 50mm delivers a rather unexciting perspective for most kinds of close-up that I take. Anyway, this is personal preference and it depends on the type of photography one does of course.

I agree, I use the ZA24 as my only wide on the A7R. Superb IQ, and the close focus ability is fantastic. You'd need to buy the LA-EA4 though, but you'll get fast and accurate auto focus.

Here's a link to a full size sample photo.

When it was released for alpha-mount, it was a bit unfairly panned for having weak extreme corners, but I think the conclusion of most is that across 95% of the frame, it's truly excellent.

Never heard of such a lens? Are you talking the 14mm?

I have a new Sony A7. Will a Minolta Maxxum 20-35MM zoom work with the A7 using the proper adapter? And may I ask what the $%#! is the proper adapter, one that will allow auto-exposure and auto-focus? Many thanks!

Assuming the Minolta is a 20-35mm auto focus lens (The older Minolta MD mount lens will not work) you can use a Sony LAEA-4 adapter to get auto focus and auto exposure.
