Mike's series of a heron battling a Florida water snake reminded me of a recent interaction I came across here in Western Australia, where kangaroos are plentiful. I happened to have my long lens with me and was able to capture this short sequence... The mob of kangaroos were about 100 meters away in a field. I had heard that when threatened, these animals can disembowel an opponent by leaning back on their tails, using their razor sharp claws to rake their opponent's abdomen. The last photo captures this behaviour (but I'm pretty sure these two were just young males playing around, so no blood and guts). I also noticed that the autofocus system locked onto the wire fence (very surprising at this distance) during one of the captures...
