During our Borneo trip we spent 4 days in Mulu National Park exploring the famous caves and doing a few jungle treks. This wasn't an area that was supposed to be all that good for birds or primates and was more for caving. However, they did have a tower hide constructed that got you up into the canopy. I spent most mornings and late afternoons up in the hide and for the most part it was fairly unproductive. However, the first afternoon, during a torrential downpour I did see this large bird (about 2 feet tall) also hanging out in the canopy trying to keep dry.
These photos aren't of the highest quality but I doubt this species has been shared on FM very often, if ever, so here it is. This is a male, if you couldn't tell by all the bright colours
Thanks for looking,
Geoff
