Pleasant composition. Only wish the light was more interesting.

Scott,

I feel the tree/sky pull away too much from the elephants.

I know you were going for the square looking but in my opinion cutting off the tree allows the focus to be pulled from the top down to the elephants below.

Quick and dirty below.

Cheers!

Jeff

Tend to agree with Beavens about the crop, depending on whether you want a lot of focus on the elephants or not. In his version, my eye is clearly drawn to the front elephant. In the square crop, it's more about 'the scene.'

Thx folks
I am good with "the scene" and also am experimenting with square crops
Guess one question is whether this is the right image for that format
I do have a more traditional and somewhat similar comp so this provides variety
Did not compose this with a square crop in mind

Asante sana

Don't how much room you have to crop, but can you expand to get the edges of the tree included?
Always bugs me to see almost the entire tree, but then have a few branches cut off.

I think that would work well with a square crop.

I think Beavens' crop helps because I find the washed out sky adds little to the image, and the less than complete tree is distracting, as FarmerJohn notes.
