Yes. 1.4x by the body, 2x by the lens.

Well, it's possible with older versions, but not the Mk III versions. The 1.4x III doesn't fit in the 2x III.

You can stack them with an extension tube between them, but the MFD is drastically reduced. Also, you can add a Kenko 1.4x TP Pro 300 behind either of the Mk III's. The Kenko IQ is about the same as the 1.4x Mk I, but lags behind the Mk III (I haven't used the 1.4x Mk II).

do they live view focus or is it all manual at that point for f/12?
I think yours would fit if you forced it a little Jim ....

My 200/1.8L would go to f/5 with stacked 1.4x and 2x Extenders.

Using the proper size hammer will help also!

I've always wondered why Canon chose to design non-stackable 2x + 1.4x TC IIIs.

Very annoyed about not being able to stack the mk III's. Will have to get another third party extender at some point. I used to like shooting the 500 + 1.4x + 2x for moon shots.

extension tubes solve it, kenko 300 DG is cheap though.
