So after a few years with our trusty camera back packs they're coming apart. We have a canon 5DIII with grip, and a 1DSIII, 2 large white lenses and at least 3 L lenses that all need to fit in there. The bag has to have a few external pockets for batteries and cards. Most importantly it needs to be lite and solid. Any recommendations?

Just take a look at all the different main brands. They all have many backpacks that your equipment will fit in. It's difficult to recommend when there are hundreds of backpacks.

One would have to know...what determines a "large white" glass....is large a 70-200 2.8 or are we talking 300 2.8 and bigger?

And...that will determine the size of the bag...and if or rollers are needed too.

Give a bit more info...and I'm sure someone will shoot a more specific example of a bag....

All depends on how large those whites are. No bag really exists to carry two big whites (like a 500 and 400 or something) and all that other stuff. The Gura Gear Bataflae 32L would be the biggest one out there. I have the 30L Kiboko (it's predecessor) and it can fit the 300 2.8, 200-400, 2 1 series bodies and 3 smaller L lenses but not a 70-200 when all that other stuff is in there. It can also take a 600 or 800 but that takes up an entire one half of the bag and then that leaves even less room for the rest. A 200-400 or 500 take up almost one half but can fit a body or a couple small lenses in that side also. 300II takes up about 1/2 of one side so 1/4 of the bag.

But the Bataflae may just do it and it is very light and very solid as it is a little bit bigger than the 30L Kiboko. I just finished a month of travel with its smaller 26L brother and in that one I packed, 200-400L, 70-200 f/2.8IS II, 2xTC, 1.4xTC, 1DX, 5D3 (no grip), Fuji X-E2, Fuji 55-200, Fuji 23, Fuji 14, Fuji 18-55 and then all the chargers, memory cards, extra crap for the plane etc and it was stuffed and heavy as hell
