p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Fastest way to batch resize images on a Mac?

Hey Gang,

What is the fastest way to downsize images on a Mac? I'm using the batch editor in Photoshop CC, but it takes quite a while to get through an entire wedding.

I know there are many apps out there that do this...which is the fastest? Or is PS the fastest?

batch downsizing with PS only takes a few seconds (few minutes at most) for a whole wedding if using an action and droplet. also what's wrong with exporting via LR?

This can also be done via Bridge. Go to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor. Then you can select the images and set the dimensions that you want to resize to.

I'm a fairly recent Mac convert and stuff like this makes me really miss Irfanview.

How about this (using Automator)? http://www.ehow.com/how_2101532_images-photo-editing-program-mac.html

I wrote an Automator action a number of years ago for this if that's an option: http://britton-photography.com/temp/ImageProcessor.zip

It handles resizing, color space conversion, format conversion, and watermarking.

I used to use a freeware version of FastStone Image Resizer. Seems to work well.

I just export at different sizes from Lightroom.

Lightroom 5. Lots of other options, but it's so stinking simple in LR.

I remember reading that Lightroom is kinda dumb when it comes to using multiple cores. That if you divide your export in half for example 50 photos and export, then select another 50 and export so that they're running simultaneously, it's actually faster than just selecting 100 photos and exporting.

Swoop, I've found the opposite. If I export my images in full res, and then export my images in resized, it definitely takes longer than waiting for the first export to complete, and then doing the second separately.

I'm on a PC. 1 TB HD, 8GB RAM, Core i7 64 bit.

If you're looking for a Mac App that's idiotproof, EasyBatchPhoto has a slick drag and drop interface with a lot of customizable options. I just like how simple it is
