Most likely a female hoverly but not one I have seen. Do you have any dorsal views?

Sorry ... it was busy with its lunch, but not that busy. Two side shots and then off! Are overflies usually that hairy? This was on willow and the yellow is willow pollen.

Species like Merodon equestris are that hairy but the spines on the legs look wrong. Hoverflies are pollen feeders.

I agree. The spines are correct for a dung fly. Not a species I have photographed.
