Ok not sure what forum this fits into to, so I thought this is the closest thing.

This image was taken in Toronto, Ontario CNE air show.

When the pilot kicked in the after burners and I had the camera in continuos mode and started shooting 6 frames. Here is the effect from one of those frames, and I must admit this is fantastic to see.

Well there are really two other images that start to show the effect and I will look at them and process them and see whats there.

I've seen 3 of these photos in my life (this being the third).

One was on an aviation website, another was in a photography magazine...yours is the best i've seen.

Not only is the moment captured...it is captured at pretty much the most perfect spot. It is tack sharp. The colors in the sky are fantastic...even the reflection on the canopy rocks.

Great photograph.

Nice Shot!

You don't happen to know what it is that causes that effect do you? Scott

When breaing the sound barrier, the pressure change condenses the water in the air, you can see a little bit of this right behind the canopy as wlel.

Well lucky yes, just being at the right place at the right time. I was so happy to see that this image came out the way it did, and thought wow, what an effect this is.

Sorry that you missed yours, but there is always another time.

was this handheld with the 75-300 lens or on a tripod? also, i thought (at least in the states, perhaps mistakenly) that jets weren't allowed to go supersonic over any metropolitan areas?

oh, and great pic!

Good one, Dennis. I didn't know that the CNE had an airshow. Oh well, there's always next year.

great picture, but this effect is not from breaking the sound barrier, it is simply condesation vapor being moved back and is dependant on humidity and speed

This shot was hand held, and they do kick in the after burners over the lake but that's about it. And the show only allows one two max per show.

There are times when there are none used.

Thanks for your comment, and yes there is an Air Show every year there. And yes there is always next year to go to it. The show is only the last weekend of the CNE Friday - Monday Labour day.

Dennis,

Congratulations. You've got a winner here.
I have never seen this amazing phenomenon elsewhere.

Great job!

Thanks for your comments on this image. Strange thing is that I seen this happen when I went there Saturday, but missed the shot. But I never seen this before that.
