I think your mergansers are actually goosanders. I'm also not so sure about your little grebe, I think it may be a black necked grebe in transition from winter to summer plumage.

Thanks too for the info on the names. I recall when I started here I called them Goosanders but everyone said they were Mergansers which is the name used across the pond so I stuck with that afterwards.
Indeed you are right on the Grebe too and am pleased about that as it is a first for me.

Yes we have been getting some very nice weather lately, still a bit on the cool side but no complaints here as seeing the sun in the winter in Geneva makes a great change from the usual wintry overcast days. Loads of people down the park with picnics and children so great for families.
