p.1 #2 · p.1 #2 · Photog appeals $10,000 FAA drone fine

"A federal judge has dismissed the Federal Aviation Administration's only fine against a commercial drone user on the grounds that the small drone was no different than a model aircraft, a decision that appears to undermine the agency's power to keep a burgeoning civilian drone industry out of the skies".

...interesting.

I saw this news too, very interesting. Though with Amazon planning on delivery by drone, it's only a matter of time before they figure out a way to regulate drones.

Not gonna happen for many years -- if at all.

I see this hasn't been discussed recently, but in listening to a recent radio broadcast I heard that Domino's in the UK delivers pizza by drone (maybe someone in the UK can confirm this). So I'm not sure this is years away after all. They made it sound like the US is behind(?) in figuring out how to handle this relatively new technology while the rest of the world moves forward in adopting and not over-regulating it.

I don't want to see the skies blackened with these things, but I can sure see an awful lot of useful capabilities and I think we, in the US, better figure this out soon...because it seems inevitable that UAV's/Drones are going to be in widespread use in the very near future (I just wish they were a little quieter).
