It's that time again where I get to convince my daughter to pose. Granny's wall needs a new photo...

Quite a lovely pensive candid look and excellent B & W rendition.

To offer another possible rendition/message:

+1 @ Karen's negative space and rotation.

Although that might be a bit much rotation for my taste, I'd look to rotate a little but still keep her arms providing (close to at least) the leading lines from the corners.

Very Nice portrait.

Does Polly's face looks like her Granny's?

If it does, then you can hit the spot very nicely in case you wish too.

In the mean time and without going to major heavier retouching like the hair on the top, facial cheek hair, pointed nose tip which could have been avoided in posing, hands are always a problem and I have corrected the light as much as possible, straighten the portrait a tad, fixed the nose only in the third pic as such retouch is rather personal judgement, probably I forgot what other retouch I made.

Here are three variants witht he last one being the nose job which still would need some work but this is a quick and dirty.

Thanks for the comments and the nit-spotting.

@aunti; Polly's so straight (for now, I live in fear of her going off the rails...) you could use her as a ruler. To angle her portrait would be to go against her character! (Although it does look cool.)

@Rusty, the leading lines have stayed, but the whole thing is cropped a little closer than I would have chosen, due to my printing error and time constraints. (I didn't give enough space top and bottom to be able to frame it cleanly, so was forced to use a matte. It's actually turned out OK.)

@Almass, thanks for the reworks. I'd completely missed the overlit arms. I haven't been shooting for a few months due to illness. I'm a lot rusty!

BTW, the rotation puts her face into a classic beauty pose from the 30's and 40's while the position of her hands counters it, somewhat.

Notice I darkened her arms, too. One of my silent tweaks.
