Dan,
I just commented on the crop in your color version - so I'll spare you here .
(Oh, I really like the basic image.)
IMO some additional brightness/contrast would be a welcome change to give a bit more life to the shot.
The problem with cloning in stuff that isn't there is that (somehow) the clone tool picks up certain parts and reproduces them exactly. This is particularly noticeable on the left side.

Note:
After a couple of PMs with Dan, he said, "Sure giver a go." (Not his exact words .)
This is just one version; of course, a person can emphasize it differently.
So, Dan, here's what I did:
1. Copied your expanded version.
2. Realized that I don't actually know HOW to add to the sides like you did.
But that doesn't matter, because what I did is only related to what often happens when you clone in.
3. Below- the first image is yours and the next one is my edit.
4. On the left side I picked the area I would use to correct this "duplication" thing that can happen when cloning in. Notice how it picked up a bunch of horizontal lines from the cabin walls- when all I was trying to do was make it a broad white line.
5. Inside that area, I cloned in a selection of other bits to cover the duplicates in your first edit.
6. When I disguised the main ones, that whole section was somewhat blurry, so I selected it and did some sharpening so that it would match its surroundings.
And last:
7. Using the brightness/contrast tool, I made the overall image a bit contrastier (again- a matter of taste, and I decided on this combo).
That's all I did. Much easier to do than explain with words .
Here is your original expanded version- followed by my edit of it.
