Wonderful, Ron! The solo female shots really shine...#2 is a nice reminder that the females have a unique beauty themselves, and #3 is a terrific behavioral shot. Honestly, I think #3 looks a bit weird, almost as though it was compressed vertically but not horizontally. (Hunkered down as Ken says). But weird can be good, photographically speaking!
Greg
Thanx Greg. I'm glad you liked them.

Great set Ron!
Can't decide between 2 & 3! Both very nice.
Charles
Thanx Charles. I prefer the pose in 3 personally, but 3 is probably a better shot.

Thanx Mike. I wonder if Mr King knows how often his name comes up in wildlife forums...

Very nice set of Hooded Mergansers. I especially like Number 2. I wonderful shot of him.
I believe both #2 and # 3 are Juvenile Males. Note the yellow eye and all black bill. Very easy to confuse with a female.
Thanx Mike. Further investigation seems to indicate you are half right. This appears to be a male, but classified as a "first Spring" male, not a juvenile.
