I dont blame you guys for having some sort of initation requirement. Just remember not EVERY new member is a scammer. I came here mainly to buy a camera but this forum is great and has so much more than just buy/sell.
anthonysemone - thanks for the feedback. I actually had forgotten about the profile and will update it. And...thanks for the compliments on the cat shot and also for the idea of linking to other sites with my images. I appreciate it.
When he replied to my ad with a smiley, I thought it look suspicious and watch his post count go up every minute after that. Reported it to Fred when I saw it and looks like he took care of it. I'm glad to see Fred keeping up the quality on this board and I don't believe there is any other photog board that comes close!
Maybe we should require a member to get 2 "likes" in the forum. That would certainly make it challenging. I was most active in this forums years ago so I don't have many at all
I learned about that requirement yesterday trying to PM a someone to buy his lens. ... I really want that lens.
But I understand the motive/reason for the 25-post minimum requirement rule. I think it gives more ''credibility'' to a new member and might refrain scammers from registering. But a scammer is a scammer and he/she might eventually get his way in.
I've sold to new members before - actually not that long ago I sold my CV-15mm III to a new member for $600. Went flawlessly. I made him jump through several hoops though.
I know this thread is old, but as a new member it would be nice to know the rules as I delve in deeper to this site. Is it discouraged to only use the buy & sell feature of the site?
I don't want to post random stuff but 25 posts is a lot for new members, all so I can buy a lens from the buy & sell forum. What about transactions counting as meeting that requirement?
