The Resplendent Quetzal is a threatened species that is found in the mountains of Central America. The last week of our trip, we visited one of the cloud forest areas of Costa Rica. My quest was to find, and photograph this spectacular bird. The body of the questzal is around 18", and the tail of the male is nearly 24". It is said that the colors of the bird have influenced the flag of numerous Central American countries, including Costa Rica. I was able to go out with a guide that led me to an area where a few had been spotted. We set out at first light, and luck was with us. It's somewhat of an equal challenge to present the intricate features of this subject with a full length version at 640 pixels.
Good luck to all this week.
