Looking through files of images overlooked I came across a small gem from the southern part of Kentucky near Cumberland Falls. It is a small hike back to the falls. Much better done in the spring than summer as the humidity in this area is quite impressive. All C&C appreciated enjoy.

Kevin.

I like the smooth water and nice reflection. Would it be possible to crawl behind the waterfall?

yes the rear of the waterfall is quite accessible, I don't have the balance anymore to go back there.

Hi Kevin,
Beautiful light and processing.
I usually don't like when the focal point is dead center but your image is well balanced and the composition works quite well.

Thank you all for your comments. Fred this location really gives the photographer many good angles. I had bypassed this set of exposures for a couple years, and last night had been playing with the 32 bit processing in Photoshop CC. I'm usually not a big fan of HDR processing, but this came out with a result I really like.

Interesting name, Dog Slaughter Falls, reminds me of Dead Horse Point. Any history to that name?

Very nice image too!

ckcarr, I have no idea why the name, but the area has three of the state's best waterfalls. They are Cumberland Falls, Eagle Falls and of course Dog Slaughter Falls. The location is not a bad hike but is still fairly remote. I've been a couple of times and only come across another person once.

Great shot. Love the warmth and perfect shutter speed.

Ever have the urge to slaughter that log above the falls?

Justin I don't have a very good record of going near the edge of the falls, having fallen once and losing a camera and lens to landing on rocks and then into the water. I didn't fare so well either...I'm just glad the tree has some character.

Justin,

I was there about 3 weeks ago and the log is now 'standing' in the waterfall itself .

By the way, beautiful shot Scott.

Great image. How can such a pretty place have that horrendous name? Too much moonshine?

All around great job. Really like it. Is it possible to camp near these falls?

First off thank you all for all the kind response and questions. Wolf I believe you can camp just about anywhere in the forest in this area. There are limitations on how close you can camp to the trail, but that goes for any trail in any of the federal forests.
