Just today, I actually listed our FE8M-N model (w/ built-in hood) on eBay and also here on B&S forum. It got sold on eBay pretty quickly, and I paid a bit more and purchased the HD8M-N model w/ removable hood so it gives a bit more pleasant pictures on our D800E in FX mode. I missed the Amazon Lightning deal, but I called one of the stores I usually buy from, and they kindly agreed to beat the Amazon deal for me by a few bucks. So I am happy
We were actually pretty happy with IQ of the older model we had on our D7000, and would never have sold it if we had not moved to D800E as our main body. It was pretty sharp and very easy to work with, and produced fun nice pictures. The build of the lens was nothing like pro lenses but not too far from cheaper consumer lenses either, IMHO. For the price, I think it is actually a pretty good buy, particularly given that fisheye is something we rarely use and cannot justify paying much more for.
Few samples from a concert we shot last year at UCLA Royce Hall:
