And there is at least one more thing which slips my mind right now...

Would that be shutter vibration?

Can the A7r use smaller RAW files than 36mp, like how Canon has sRAW (the smaller raw files)?

I don't believe so, but then why buy a 36mp camera and shoot lower quality raw files? The A7r does use a lossy compression scheme by default, so the files are actually much smaller than D800 files, if that helps. I don't have an A7r, but my A7 files are even smaller than my X-E2 files due to the compression.

Actually i have handled both of them, but not together so unable to compare speeds.

Is there a way you can switch off the monitor completely and just use the evf?

Yes, but then the monitor is completely off, i.e. the menus are in the EVF too.

Finally buying one today...A7 with FE 24-70. I already have a D800E so 36 megs is not something that i dont have.

I am buying this for general purpose shots, mostly people so i think 24 megs will be fine for that. Plus EFCS. I hope A7 doesnt have that long winded shutter of A7r that just goes on and on.

Right now i have a pretty small set of gear, D800+35/1.4+70200/4. A 24-70 on this one will complete the set up.

Great choice. However, to get the most out of A7's sensor, the FE 55mm 1.8 is a "must"

Personally I felt that the FE 24-70 f/4 is a bit overpriced for a zoom with f/4 constant aperture. I am currently evaluating fast standard zoom choices in A mount to use with my LA-EA4 and looks like Sigma HSM 24-70 2.8 + LA-EA4 is still less than the FE 24-70.

I haven't seen many samples with the kit lens for the A7, which is admittedly slow. However, it does seem to be reasonably priced if purchased as a kit. I just don't know if anything but the Zeiss 55mm can touch the RX-1 in terms of IQ.
