Hello, how many shoot photos of bands, and what lenses do you use? Also, do you use flash or just use the ambient light and shoot with a high ISO. I've been using a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 as well as a 50mm f/1.8 and shooting at ISO 3200. If the lighting is bright enough my photos turn out pretty decent, although not as good as some others that I've seen. Oh, I also shoot with a Canon 70-200mm f/4.0 on occasion when I can't get up close.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

I never use flash, just f2.8 or faster glass. ISO 6400's usually the norm in dark
venues. I'll go higher and convert to B&W if needs be. I shoot mostly small clubs,
brewpubs etc. so my lens choices will vary from 28 f1.8 or 35 f1.4 to 70-200 f2.8
and my favorite if I have the room...the 200 f2. Expose to the right, get the SS up.

No Flash. it ruins the lighting/atmosphere (if any) and pisses off a whole lot of people.

Thank you all for your input, which confirms what I've already been doing, although my photos are no where near as crisp and sharp as what you've posted. This may be in part that I'm still shooting with a Canon 20D at a max of 3200 ISO. Most of the places that I've been shooting at have terrible lighting, I'm lucky if I get 20 good shoot out of 175-250 shots, and most of those I'll convert to B&W, besides, I like B&W.

You can view a few of my photos at: www.dmichaelphotography.net Festivus Band

Thank you again,

Dale
