Has anyone lubricated the lens collar or is this not recommended. Mine is a little sticky. thanks

I would make sure which ever lubricant you use it is safe for plastics and don't get it near any seams. I have some break free lubricant and while I don't use it on my camera gear it does state it is safe for paint and plastic. I would still be cautious. The only thing I use on my lens bodies is some aerospace protectant for all the rubber bits.

I have never needed to lubricate the collar on my 500VR though it does get a little sticky in damp weather. Might also check to ensure there's no contamination that's causing the stickyness.

I've never lubed a collar. They are made to work dry. You have dirt or something in there. Take it apart and clean everything.
