I shoot mostly landscapes with a 5d but would like to take some wildlife images on an upcoming trip to yellowstone. My longest lens is the Canon 70-200 1.8 I think it is. I was considering getting something like a 6d and a sigma 150 - 500, but thinking the Canon lens I have will be good with the 6d crop factor. Looking for some advice. Cheers
You can do a lot with a 200, especially with the crop factor, but even on the 5d alone, you'd be surprised. Especially at a place like yellowstone where all the wildlife are just chilling.
You mention the "6D crop factor" but the 6D is FF just like your 5D so it doesn't have a built in "crop factor" like the 7D does because of the smaller sensor. If you meant the crop ability because of the better quality sensor and more MPs then that may have some affect. I would get a 2x converter for the 70-200 and you will have a good quality 140-400 f/5.6 lens. Do you know if your 70-200 f/2.8 (I doubt you have a 1.8) is the newest version mark II or the mark I or is it one without IS?
I did mean the 7d yes. The 70-200 is 2.8 and is an older lens without IS. I like the idea of the 2x converter but I can see how having IS would be an advantage.
