Yesterday late morning I had coffee with Kat and mentioned that I wanted to do another test with my large soft box. She immediately suggested that she could come over to my place about 7:30 pm for another test shoot. She did this only on the condition that I ply her with a glass or three of B&B Of course, she came over with a fine wardrobe, hair, and makeup. After a few sips of B&B and chatting about interesting things, we put on a CD of music by Piaf (you might like this style of music -- or maybe not: ). Of course she immediately moved her mind into the mood of the music -- and we had an entertaining hour of shooting.
The change from my previous test is applying a strong tilt to the soft box. In my living room, this amounted to 30 or 45 degree tilt (depending on the softbox being vertically or horizontally oriented). The first shot illustrates the degree of tilt to the softbox in a vertical orientation. This tilt provides a fair bit of top light to the hair ... which I liked. A second kicker flash with a 15 degree grid was set slightly behind her and to camera left - which I used with various degrees of appropriateness throughout the shoot.

2. This shot was on my Leica (the wrong camera for this type of work) and, by accident of being fumble fingers with setting up the camera, I got this unexpected out-of-camera image that I rather liked: http://pix.tphoto.ca/random/kat113.jpg
The following are some shots with the softbox tilted in the horizontal and vertical orientation
