Nikon Instant Rebates are now Live. Save up to $400
Nikon just started a big lens rebate program. Some instant rebates go as high as $400.

The savings begin February 9 and will end March 1st. Check out the links below:

I'm a little disappointed because most of the high end lenses from last year aren't discounted. But then again, that's good for me because I won't drop a bunch of money like I should have last year

sweet...not. Consumer zooms apart from 2 & slower primes...they should live a little & put up some more exotic glass for us to lust over.

Would be nice to see higher end glass...

I can get the the majority of that stuff for cheaper right here on the B&S forums. Yeah it might be used but some of the folks here take really good care of their gear! Just sayin...

The only really decent rebate here is for the 80-400. But it's so expensive to begin with that it's still overpriced with the rebate.

No, the 80-400mm is about where it should be at this stage of current pricing. $2,697 was pretty high (although I bought with zero regret).

Better buy what you want now, or like last time the complaints will start as to "out of stock."

But, I agree, a lot of consumer glass. However, it's their choice. Maybe they don't need to discount the other "pro" lenses. Although, often sales are a way of rewarding loyal customers too.

If you are referring to my post, I was talking about the high end lenses in my last sentence. Perhaps I ran too much together.

There are some good prices - 85mm 1.8 and 16-35mm. The 24-120 is a decent price as well. I don't buy new, HOWEVER if the 14-24 was on here, I may have ..

What is funny is that when you click on the body/lens combo (D800 or D600 for example), only DX lenses show up lol. Yeah, I'm going to spend $$$ on a camera and put a $200 lens on it.. Oh wait, I did have my Samyang ..

Some of those rebates are not as good as they seem. In December the 10-24DX was selling for $800. Now it's selling for $900 with a $150 rebate for a final price $750 ... No such a great deal ... but $50 is $50.

The 50 1.4 is a good buy as it usually sells for that used.

I don't regret buying the 80-400mm at full price for a second given all that I've shot with it in the last several months, but this price is closer to what I always thought would be more in line with expectations.

Nothing there that I am currently interested in (like the 28 F1.8G or the new 35mm F1.8 G for FX).

I would agree but it is a bit disconcerting to overpay for a product and then have the price on "sale" for what it's really worth...at best. One reason why if alternatives are available, I now have chosen to pass on Nikon products. The company just does not care about its customers.

I'm happy to see the 80-400G at the price that it is now… Jumped on that deal shortly after midnight

I think suggesting you overpaid removes the personal responsibility from the purchase.

Nobody lied to you. Nobody misled you. There was a product offered at a price - if you found that product acceptable for the price, then you bought it. 6 months later, they are offering rebates, which is not a new practice.

You can choose to shop elsewhere, for whatever reason, but let's be honest here: if you think you "overpaid" than that's your fault, not Nikon's, and you did it with eyes wide open. You might think they are overcharging, which is not the same thing.

Car dealerships do this ALL the time. They will mark the regular price up, then mark it down just a little less than what it was prior to their weekend sale, so it looks better on paper (perceived value)

Canon has done this for EVER.

things in this world go on sale occasionally...everything is 'worth' what someone is willing to pay for them
