Pretty sure they use D4 or maybe the new D4S and not too many D800s. =)

Maybe Cannon just held a contest and the winners where loaned cameras and giant lenses to fill this capture box. Or maybe those shooters couldn't afford Nikon equipment.

When the game was over and photographers were pushing each other around to get pictures of the players being interviewed all I saw was D4's.

Probably what you saw was a bunch of Nikon fanboys that ran onto the field thinking they knew what they were doing...likely all ended up spending the night in NY lockup

Yeah, you're probably right. I love brand loyalty. Of course when the final product is presented to the client they have no idea what you shot it with....only how good you are as a photographer.

Yes sad they all had to pay for a new camera in the D4S instead of having Nikon provide a nice free 2.0 FW update like Canon did for the 1DX I wonder why 75% were shooting Canon...not to mention Nikons horrible service policies.

it is because at the moment, canon body is better than Nikon, 1DX is better and D4.

They might end up in a NY lockup, but not for anything they'd have done on the field! The game was played in.... NEW JERSEY!

Gah, NFL didn't even let NJ collect any taxes for it but they insisted NJ taxpayers pay for all the 700 man police force and then they had the nerve to pretend that there were no hotels in NJ and wouldn't let the next door town hold official tail-gaiting parties and tried to force anything with any official name and all the fans to stay in NYC.

Too bad the game wasn't held 12 hours later. Huge blizzard came in. That might've actually made for an exciting game. Instead kick-off was during this freak little period of 12 hours where it suddenly became dead calm and 25 degs above normal.

It must be Canon's fault! They control the weather! This is proof! The white lenses would've blended into the snow and only Nikon lenses would have stuck out!

If you had actually had photographed at big events like the Super Bowl, or even a regular season NFL game, you would know that the photographers are limited in shooting areas. Same goes for many other big sporting events.

You have a point. It's something I have been critical of for a long time but more related to the press scrum surrounding politicians. Why not just have one or two guys shooting and posting to Reuters? Instead we have twenty guys elbowing each other for the same image.

You'd be surprised how different the takes can be. I've shot alongside a bunch and sometimes seen everyone's stuff afterwards. It's not nearly so all the same as you'd expect. And how much would be missed with just 1 or 2 shooters, so so much.
