After using Nikon SLRs since 1980, I had my first real accident. A D7000 body was attached to my 500 f/4 + TC-14E. To make the long story short, the camera ended up having the mount ripped off and the TC ended up banging against the car, breaking the mount release button and bending the mount. Keep in mind I almost always buy used gear. So, the TC was a bit on the rough side. Body was scraped and mount was brassing. The glass was clean, but had some cleaning marks in the coating. It worked fine, though.
Nikon still has the camera. The TC arrived today and looks nearly new. They rebuilt the whole thing including replacing glass. The list of what was done fills over half a page. The cost? About $150. Can't wait to try it out and see how it performs. Hopefully, it won't be a different story!
