Nice set - really liking #1. Wish we could wear t-shirts and shorts at night here in the midwest!

The first thing that comes to mind in that first shot, is thank god those are girls and not boys, or you might have one hurt player there ;p I've dabbled in local HS soccer as well. I find it fun to go out to the field and shoot. You definately have to let the ISO go high while out there. I think at times, HS sports are harder to shoot than professional sports due to the poor lighting and most are usually at night. Good shots. I like the last one also with her holding her by her shirt.

Shot 4 for me. Having both faces, and the intensity of #19 is really good. She seems to be a real force....

Frozen outdoor fields with ice and snow, here!

Appreciate all the comments from everyone. I do like using the Auto ISO setting and maintaining the shutter speed I need. Poor lighting is what I deal with on most of my assignments. When I do get daylight games I leap for joy In the last photo I was surprised a holding foul was not called as the girl in blue was pulling on her shorts so hard I am surprised she didn't rip them off.

Did you happen to note the Auto ISO settings that the camera set for you? Looking at 1Dx (also paired with my 400mm f/2.8) and the ISO ability is a big reason why.. tks. for sharing, really nice shots!

Photo 1 - ISO 6400, #2 - ISO 3200, #3 - ISO 4000, #4 - ISO 3200 and #5 - ISO 5000

Scanning back through the photos most were in a range of 3200 to 6400, a few at 8000 and a couple at 10,000. The ISO 10,000 shots were of the crowds in the stands. I think I am really liking the ability to set exposure compensation in manual mode and going with the shutter speed and aperture that I prefer and letting ISO Auto vary as needed.

Thanks for that info.. And the great shots. Hopefully a 1Dx will be in my near future (unless Canon comes out with something else shortly)...

Nice work. That 1DX really works well for this sort of shooting. I like 5 a lot.

Great shots! Last one is classic.
What did you do with processing on them? I shoot a lot of high school soccer at night. Our lights are decent but the field is turf and gives off that shiny glaze look.

I think if you look again you'll find she's grabbed her by the shorts.

I think almost anyone who shoot's sports would appreciate the timing of the shots and the intensity of the athletes but I'd have almost zero chance of selling any of them except for #1 - and maybe number 5. My feeling for the market is the best seller's are "sportrait's" showing action and movement - but no grimaces etc.
