Well, I assure you it is several points darker and I think it is much better this way. In the end, I wound up completely reprocessing it because the earlier version was one i made out of the simple B & W, which I framed. But I already had one in color that I had done. When I compared the two, I noticed an inordinate amount of banding in the gradient behind the photo so I used the already framed color version and converted that to B & W. They were slightly different in tone but I think I like the richness of this version better, anyhow.

At the risk of misremembering, the image above seems to have the brightness of the table top (marble?) muted just right.
