I have the camera in a sound proof box so changing lens during the performance is not an option, I would hate to be locked into the 300, so I am looking at the Sigma 120-300 2.8 - I would like to hear people's experiences with this lens, the older version or the newer OS version. I see several older versos for sale here but if the IQ is better on the newer version I would rather opt for that - the lens would be mostly used on a tripod or monopod. The range would work well.
Go to Photography on the Net (it's a Canon site but don't let that deter you) and find the Sigma 120-300 thread. It's well over a 100 pages long but anything over page 100 and you will find plenty of options, shots and debate on the new version of this lens. Under ca. p100 covers the lens from it's first inception on through.
