Could be, there sure were a lot of birders out their looking for them, only saw a couple photographers but the birders and casual viewers (dog walkers) were all over the place (on Sunday...no one was there on Saturday...). That said early Feb is traditionally when they leave that area so could have been the storm on Tuesday that finally pushed them off that beach....it is very exposed out there as you know. Anyways, neither you nor I actually know the truth about why they weren't there that weekend. Better they get up and fly to another area if they are bothered then being lured to stay around with bait and habituated.
