Thanks Charlie. No, I have not considered that because I like the way the path leads you to the Shariden building, the most sacred building in all of Kamakura Japan. It's a mysterious building, one cannot get any closer to this building than I was here taking this photo. Partially hidden, tucked up close to a mountain side, it is my favorite site in all Japan.

I was thinking about all the bare dirt on both sides of the path as being a negative- not the path itself.
