I frequently drive back and forth to Michigan to ferry my Mother-In-Law down to Kentucky to stay with us for extended periods of time. With the weather been so cold up in Michigan I thought it would be time to capture some lighthouses that have been captured by lake ice. So with a slight deviation from the regular route I spent an extra day to shoot 3 lighthouses. The first is the harbor light in St Joseph on the SW side of Mi and going north to South Haven, then to Grand Haven. Since the temps were very low 14 on Sat Morning I passed on the long walk out to the Holland Light.

LOVE the 3rd but the whole series is excellent! My dream is to catch something like #3. Once in a while this effect happens at the big lake in spring or late fall.

Thank you all for viewing and your comments. I lived in Michigan until i was 18 and it wasn't until I was 60 until I actually got an opportunity to go and shoot the lighthouses in the winter. This is the first year since 1976 that the lake has 80% ice coverage. I'm glad I had at least one day along the lake to get a few shots.
