I wouldn't call these a "pleasure" to view Eric, but they don't bother me either. I tend to "like" the less in your face shots like 2 and3. 3 is my pick too - also for the great detail ~ Ron

Ron, I know where you are coming from and while I strive not to be too over the top graphic I'm not sure all images are meant to have a "pleasurable" feel and I know you agree. I do not approve of gratuitous gore but on occasion showing life at is rawest serves a purpose.
Plus, this was really an exercise that based on the comments, proved my point.

My thoughts exactly

Seeing another creature die is never fun, easy or enjoyable...in the case of Africa's predators it is thrilling to view when its quick and rather gruesome and heart wrenching when its not. I have come to learn however, that almost nothing excepting elephants die of old age....how we chose to depict their demise can be respectful or not.

Eric,
These images illustrate your point perfectly.
It helps that each is an amazingly good photograph.
Just curious: if you consider them in reverse order, how different would people's emotional reactions be?

Charlie, firstly, thanks for the nice comments. Secondly, I thought about how to order the images and had considered it the other way around as well and I do think it plays totally differently...like the Beatles album played backwards that says "John is dead". Seriously, I would actually be very interested in understanding how changing the order changes the impact of the set.

Great work Eric,

The close up is impressive yet it's the middle one for me

Thanks Morris...I think that may be my pick as well as it does give a different perspective than the other two without being too offensive to the sensabilities.
