p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Are these tubes OK for a macro beginner?

I was toying with getting the kenko extension tubes for a couple of hundred bucks, and my friend just found these on amazon for a lot less.

http://www.amazon.com/Xit-XTETC-Focus-Extension-Cameras/dp/B00ALNA09W/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Does anyone know if these work well canon cameras? My friend has a rebel (T3?) and I have a 70D and 5DIII.

Or how about the Fotodiox tubes for under $60?

Thanks for any comments or suggestions,

Peter

Extension tubes are fairly simple with no optical components and should be easy to manufacture. These are noted as having the ability to autofocus. I've seen some advertised without electrical contacts. I've also seen some tubes that won't allow mounting of Canon EF-S lenses while other manufacturers crop lenses would work. I believe it is the same mechanical interference that won't allow mounting of a Canon EF-S lens on a full frame camera. So, if you plan on using a Canon made crop lense make sure that they mount a EF-S lens.

Thanks, these are advertised as having the electrical contacts, and some of the reviews mention that they work with EF and EF-S lenses. Not sure how that can be - one of the reasons I'm asking here, in case anyone has direct knowledge.

The Promaster tubes I have work with both, so it is possible.
