Hi I've been trying for ages to get a reasonable shot of one of the swallowtails at the butterfly house but they are always moving too fast when nectaring
got lucky and found one just emerged
spent ages just photographing this one butterfly wanted to make sure and its the only chance I may get there's not many butterflies at this time of year there
I was using a Canon 550D with Sigma 105 macro
On tripod focussing manually using live view
shutter speed 1/25 at F4 ISO 200 exp + 2/3
very happy with this shot its a stack of two shots to get wings and body in focus

I forgot to say when I took the open wing shot I changed to F 6.3 but you are right 8 would have been better
