Not only this, but I think that film bodies and gear are depreciating pretty quick. It's becoming harder to find a place to develop film in a competent way. This, coupled with our instant gratification tendencies and the increasing quality of digital will likely relegate film to the dustbin. Granted, if you're looking at something like an F3 for a paperweight, I get that.
As someone who has been buying classic cameras for the past five years, I can tell you for sure that the better ones (F3HP, Leica, Nikon SP, Rolleiflex etc.) are NOT depreciating at this point. They seem to be increasing as more Chinese middle class are buying them. Film isn't going anywhere--Freestyle and Ilford report business is increasing. I have no trouble getting film processed even in the small city I live in. If I had to, I could process my own b&w. At the same time I bought the D7100 I also got a Leica IIIf. The D7100 has lost a third of it's value in about half a year. The IIIf is very slightly up in value from what I paid.
