More optical surfaces will get the reflections shown. Wide-angle lenses and zoom lenses have more surfaces. The 43~86 zoom comes to mind.

Nikkor 43~86 ai, on the Nikon F2a. Kodacolor 400 from "in the day". I still have this lens, bought in 1979. Will try on the Df. Picked up a second for $50.

Nikon 85mm 1.4D
Also the 28-70mm 2.8D
Sometimes too much, you definitely have to be careful shooting with those two. I also recall the 50mm 1.8D having some really good flare but I didn't like the lens.

Love that shot - I can practically feel the excitement and the warmth of the sun on my face.

Here's a 'studio' shot with the Nikkor-Q 135mm f/3.5 Non-AI @ F/8. 2 SB-800's providing side lighting.

The Nikkor-Q 135mm is a simple lens with a 4 in 3 formula, so the internal reflections are minimal.

The 35-70/2.8 is my go to "flare" lens. It has a great soft, low contrast look when flaring, and has lots of interesting ghost patterns.

The 17-35mm, while relatively flare resistant, has great sun-stars and ghosts under the right conditions.

And +1 for the 70-200 vr1. I always seem to get something cool looking when pointing it at a bright light source.

I've been pointed to that lens a few times, so just picked one up on the B&S forum. Should have my hands in it next week!

The 14-24/2.8 is a classic for cinematic-style flare, as is the first version AF-S 70-200/2.8 VR.
Was testing/playing with some more lenses - nothing in my lens-arsenal can beat the old Nikkor-H Auto 85/1.8:

Among the wide-angle-lenses the PC 28/3.5 (Shift-Nikkor) is my favorite for cool looking flare and ghosting:

Please excuse the silly captions/texts and subjects

The "Department of Optical Laws and Flaws" has me on their most wanted list due to my recent compulsion for flare and internal reflections!

I recently missed a chance to pick up a really nice Nikkor-UD 20mm f/3.5 Ai which has a really good reputation for reflections across it's relatively complicated internal structure. Hope my new 35-70 3.5 version 1 makes up for the loss!

A quick example of the 20 3.5 UD's tendency for flare and ghosting. As in this instance, the flaring/ghosting occurs despite having the HN-9 hood on.
