Seriously, you`ve got to fine- tune your sample of the AF- S, man. No point in posting samples of a lens performing this bad - not representative for that lens.

Which are you thinking you see? Front focus?

His post states that he used live view focusing.

All was focused with live view. You just have to accept reality I thought the same but the AiS Is comparable to the G. I also had my glasses on This is clearly a perfect example of you get what you pay for. One just needs to balance results with budget and see if it's worth it to them or not. For me, I am fortunate to own the lens but do not need it. So I would be happy with the others as long as I dont need that super crisp detail. I do street photography so the lesser performing lens would suffice.

Frode, that is what I initially thought as well. But the 50 ais performed just as bad. Thus I can't accept the bad sample theory.

If you have the 50 G please try a similar shot of black on white text similar size and distance.

Isn't this more-or-less what you'd expect with the camera looking down at an oblique angle, the box sloping up bottom to top and (to my eyes) skewed up slightly left to right?

Could you also do a test with the Zeiss ZF 50/2 MP?

Well, I no longer have the f2 zeiss. plus. I'm pretty much done with this for now. again this was not really a test but just accommodating some member requests.

Thanks for looking

The otus is pretty nice. It is sharp, contrasty, controls CA well, and renders oof highlights nice and softly. Is that worth such a price tag? Well, for me, no. Its easy to see in the 100% crops just how much better the lens is vs the others, but I think buying a full set of 1.4 primes is a better use of one's money.

Congrats to Ziess for building such a great performing lens, but its price tag just makes it a bit too unpractical for your average photogeapher. I'm sure many pros would say the same too.

Otus is great. MF is impractical for many event users. Sticking with AF Nikons for now.

Hi Jorge hearing some issues with condensation on the Otus, have you experienced this? My friend has one and so far he thinks it's OK but we go out shooting in the cold a lot. Guess should be more diligent in letting camera and lens warm up slowly.

Dan

P.S. I have used the Otus and I love it and really want one, it's that good!

Dan,

I have not seen an issues yet. Please provide some details of what to look for. Does it evaporate without leaving a trace or does it run?
