no matter how many pretty pictures you see of critters with a 135 ro 200 or so, you will miss A LOT of stuff, if you don't have at least a good 400..i live out there, photo out there and can tell you,, 100 - 400 for minimum.. rangers are getting tighter and tighter on griz, so the 100 yard mins are more and more a reality,, so take your 200 and get 100 yards from a horse in your neck of the woods. and see how small it its..

remember the old american express commercial about don't leave home with out it,,

well, i don't enter the park without my 600 and extenders,, and i don't leave with out my 12mm either,, YNP is so diverse you will use the entire spectrum of mm firepower,, don't short yourself,, if necessary there is a place in bozemant that rents long glass, don't know the name right off but I know its not a store called F11,,if that helps..

short version, take all you can, as long as you can, with extenders.....its just that simple

I'd take exactly what I already have: 17-40, 24-70 or 24-105, 70-200, 100-400. I'd be a happy camper. And photographer. ;-)

Thank you Kim. I have given consideration to buying the Sigma 300-800 f5.6 and keeping the 200 f1.8. That would have me covered from 14mm - 800mm plus a 1.4X & a 2X. Jim
