Here are a couple of photos from earlier this year. I decided to try to re-process these and I like how they came out. I really love working with children. It doesn't always go well, but sometimes the parents like the outtakes as much as the nicely posed portraits.

I mentioned that the parents loved some of the outtakes but didn't post any examples. Here is one where I got 5 different looks. The parents put this one on Facebook and got a lot of responses. I guess I'm wondering if others give outtakes?

Really cute of the kids. A little hair light above and behind would do wonders to separate them from the background. Also any time you have one person with wild colors compared to the rest of the group, I'd put them in the middle. The girl on the left pulls the eye away from the boy on the right.

I added one of the outtakes from this studio session. Just curious to see what others think about giving parents outtakes. Is this common? What are the big drawbacks?

I guess it would depend on the shot. I don't have a studio but when I take family holiday pics I sometimes include the "not quite ready for prime time" pics (assuming it's focused and well lit)
