Had both. I kinda hated the Tamron, the VR took seconds to stabilize. Totally unusable during weddings.
I dont shoot wildlife but it should be a problem too, I guess.
Otherwise, it's scary sharp, except at 200mm f/2.8, just like the non-VR variant. Not as bad, but still.
The Sigma was decent all-around, just not as good as others when it comes to critical sharpness wide open.
I ended-up picking up an used Nikon 70-200 VR1. 200mm is supposed to be weak on full frame but it's okay on a D700 and just perfect if you have a DX camera.
