I admire the idea of an A7r but I consider it to be a very specialized tool rather than a general camera.

i cruised over to Akihabara yesterday and gave both the A7 and A7r a run through.
actually liked the way the A7 handled better. the viewfinder is quite high quality on both. does some funky jello type stuff from shot to shot. kind of amusing. its like they really didn't know how to divy up the features between the 2.

I find the 6D+3rd party grip and 24-105 kit lens VERY light compared to the 5DIII+grip+f2.8 28-70

I have the 5D III, grip and L bracket. I went through the same as the OP, and decided on the 6D and 40 STM as a lightweight / backup option, although I recently picked up a 35 f/2 IS for the extra stop and IS over the pancake. The 6D and 35 f/2 IS make a very nice combo.

If the 6D really is too heavy for you maybe you should try doing some pushups and work out in a gym?
