I just got a 15" MBP retina...coming from a 2009 MBP. I got the update for photoshop CS6.

I used to save web images sized at 800 or 1000 on the long side. Now in Photoshop the images are only have the size. When I look at the jpg in preview it looks pixelated. Is this something I just have to get used to?

Is everyone saving at twice the size now with these new retina displays? I'd rather not double the file size of all my images.

Surely this is the point of a high resolution display: more pixels in a smaller space. You are probably looking at almost four times the file size, not twice.

But if I am working at twice the image size and then I put it on the web it will be even larger and that isn't my intention.

how is everyone dealing with this? working at 200% zoom level within photoshop and keeping the same file sizes they were working with before the retina display?

Not if they are also using a retina screen.

but it is a very small minority that are using a retina display.

Don't worry about others. Worry about you. Anything posted to the web by me is 800 or 1000 pixels on the long side.

It will look fine on any display. PS will let you save the photo by inches or pixels. For web use I save by pixel size.
