I have a Lee Filters Wide Angle Lens Hood with two rectangular filter slots attached. It has a thread on the front of the hood into which I usually screw my 105mm circular polarising filter.
I don't know the relevance of your "1-inch screws" though. In my experience, the length of the screws that I have to hold in the two filter slots is not relevant to my ability to attach the CPL, though your experience may differ to mine.
