There's one for the RX100, why not the RX10?

I think this is a very interesting camera. Would love to see what it can produce at the hands of skilled photographers here.

main reason for getting it was video, first time hitting the streets with the RX10, great fusion camera, shot raw after dark, ISO 1000, f2.8

Nice snaps snapsy!

How do you like the camera so far?

From what you posted the color looks great and even the bokeh looks pretty good. Overall looks like the best results I have seen from the 1" sensor so far.

I wonder if anyone is shooting with the RX10, especially now with the announcement of the Panasonic FX1000?

I was able to borrow one back in January for a few weeks. At first I was a bit skeptical about it and didn't really want to bring it along with my regular gear (Canon 1DX, Leica M9/M240. But I gave it a try, primarily as an alternative to the Canon to accompany my Leica kit for more reach when needed. And you know, I was really pleasantly surprised and impressed by it. Bottom line was that it was fun to use, despite some of my Sony UI dislikes. More fun than the a7 cameras, IMO. And it held up pretty well out in the cold too. One time I got on a shooting tear out in the snow and managed to get about 650 frames with battery power to spare!

Does it replace what I already have? Not from an image quality point of view. Not surprisingly the 1" sensor runs into noise problems sooner than full frame 18-24MP. And while the lens is good, I wouldn't consider it to be great. It's a bit soft at the long end and benefits from stopping down a couple stops for better across frame performance. I think it's better at the wide end. While edges look a bit stretched/smeared, most of the image is pretty good and sharp enough. Cropped a bit and at first glance it could rival some of my Leica glass for structure and sharpness, though there is still a bit of that small sensor look to everything. IS works really well and is useful, as is the built-in ND. At some point between f/5.6-8 diffraction becomes problematic and for some images I'll be posting, to get really deep depth of field, I tried f/16. Fine details suffers the more you stop it down and is very noticeable when viewing at actual pixel size, but given the 20MPs, stair step downsizing of images with some sharpening can minimize this some of the time.

Perhaps it's appropriate that this thread petered out at the end of January, which is when I used the camera... though just getting around to processing these files now...

Snow & ice. WB set pretty low to get the strong blues and pulled back in post for a moody depiction of the sunlight reflecting off the ice:

Anyone else out there with images to share?

More to come from me...

I wonder how many of these cameras Sony sold... whether they've reached sales targets?

My take on the RX10 is that the IQ-to-size and weight ratio doesn't justify it over the alternatives such as an APS-C body with an 18-105mm. The RX10 has the extra focal length on the long end but if you're ok with up to 135mm then the APS-C body gives you equivalent or better IQ, plus more options since it's an ILC.

Yeah, I agree. The FZ1000 seems more compelling because of the lens, and early results from it look pretty good. Two out of three hitting the mark (RX1 and RX100) isn't bad though. That said, the RX10 is still a really good camera.

The first below was at f/16 while the second was at f/2.8... f/16 here, downsized, looks OK, but at full resolution it's pretty mushy.

f/16 is waaaay into the diffraction zone with a small 1" sensor.

Sure, but how else am I going to get the depth of field I want shooting relatively deep scenes at near distances, hand held, in a single shot (without going to the extremes of focus stacking). Of course it's suboptimal, but scaled down, not too bad... Maybe some of the shallower depth of field at a wider aperture could have been offset/disguise by more aggressive sharpening and contrast enhancements in post... In the end I found that around f/5.6 offered the best compromise of across-frame sharpness as well as good detail sharpness. f/4 and wider is better for best central sharpness.

It certainly doesn't seem like there are many other RX10 users here. Oh well... here's more from me.

I get that this camera might not be something for everybody but since getting mine a couple of weeks ago I have been shocked at how perfect it is for almost everything I would need it for. I have the A7R with 4 lenses, a Ricoh GR and Ive shot with the RX100 and m4/3 et al in the past few years and for my uses its about 90% the camera I have ever wanted. Plus its all in one package. Now that more FX1000 images are being released the quality at the long end seems wanting. Im guessing that is why sony stuck with 200mm.

I have to say it shoots faster than my a7r...focuses faster...and in most situations is a heck of a lot more practical and easier to shoot with. I love the images my a7r gives me but I don't know this little all in one is pretty darn special.

Im kind of surprised there are so few users on this forum using it.

Anyhow here are a few from the Renaissance Faire...nothing special but I liked them.

Nice shots. I am getting more and more interested in these super zooms, (RX10 and FZ1000) but the lack of good images on this thread is dissaponting

Please post more if you can, specially the low light ones.

Has long been reading about the RX10 M3. Itself *test* is better than reading. In short, I am very surprised. Makes fun and pictures

Yeah for shear versatility AND quality I don't feel there is an equal to the M3. I sold off ALL my other photo gear (which included a A7RII and lenses and Fuji X-T2 and lenses) as they simply weren't getting used any longer. I have no issues making this one camera do it all.
