Is it just me, or can it be challenging to get print borders set up?

And every application seems to handle them differently.

Print setup is different in Lightroom vs Photoshop vs Qimage vs printer plug-ins.

And the plug-ins for the same printer are different, too. Huge difference in the Epson 3800 plug-in for Photoshop vs Lightroom, unless I'm doing it wrong (and, I may be). The Epson plug-in run through Photoshop is more like Canon Print Studio in Lightroom.

I just downloaded the Qimage trial, still undecided there.

Is there such a thing as a printing application?

Qimage is a printing application. It does little else.

I used Qimage for a while and liked the results better than Photoshop but less than printing from Lightroom.

I print everything from one app, Lightroom. Keeps it simple and I don't have to worry about differences in color rendering (more important IMO than borders).

If you are trying to automate border setup for images that are cropped differently, you will have trouble with any application. And unfortunately your setting can't move between different apps. Just the way of s/w I suppose.
