Maybe a little too straight-on Bob, I think a little turn of her head might bring into play some more interesting light.

Agreed, and I struggle with the perspective - some aspect is not faithful to reality but I cannot put my finger on it....quick grab at the kitchen counter.

As an informal portrait, I don't think it has to be faithful to whatever concept of reality you are giving it Bob.
That ship sailed when you converted to B&W.
It is a sweet little shot of an endearing countenance. IMO, that's all it needs to be.

re BW - yes, and I used a film emulation that imparts grainy texture, the complexion is much smoother. But again, I cannot have it both ways with the same image
- happy you appreciate and enjoy the image.
