WASHINGTON (AP) — Under pressure from the wind-power industry, the Obama administration said Friday it will allow companies to kill or injure eagles without the fear of prosecution for up to three decades.

Obama chooses 'the wind' over the American Bald Eagle. Great. What's next?

So, I guess the conversation obviously went something like this -

Wind lobbyists - "Mr. President, we are killing eagles and we are scared that you will put us in prison and fine us. Will you let us get a permit to kill eagles? Pretty please?!!! Please!!!

President Obama - "Sure, no worries. I will give you a pass to kill eagles for the next 30 years! No need to worry, folks."

It's the hypocrisy that aggravates me. If it were the oil companies would they be given a 30 year reprieve from any responsibility for killing eagles?

It's just political games, as usual.

At the very least - the wind companies should be fined "heavily" for each and every eagle they kill or hurt. Why would the government just give them a "free pass"? Unbelievable, folks.

All the time and effort that has been made to save the eagles just goes to waste, when something like this (A permit to kill or hurt an eagle) occurs.

Wow.

I don't understand why they don't require fan guards. It keeps kids fingers on.

Oh, what the frak!

It's not just eagles. I had reason to be walking through the wind farm in the Altamont Pass east of the San Francisco Bay area in the 1990s - the ground was littered with dead birds.
